Wrdsmth collects no data about you. None.
What is collected
Nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no crash reporting, and no third-party SDKs. The puzzles ship inside the app and the daily puzzle is worked out from the calendar date in New York — the same puzzle for everyone, with nothing downloaded — so playing needs no connection at all.
Buying a level pack
The iPhone app offers optional level packs. Buying or restoring one is the only thing that ever makes a network request, and it is handled entirely by Apple's App Store — the same way every other purchase on your iPhone is. Your payment details are never seen by this app, and no server of ours is involved at any point.
What comes back is a list of which packs your Apple Account owns, which the app reads on each launch and keeps on your device so your packs work offline. Nothing about a purchase is sent anywhere else, and no purchase SDK from any other company is used. The web version has no purchases at all.
What is stored, and where
Your progress, your settings, your daily-puzzle history and which packs you own are saved on your device — in the app's own storage on iPhone, or in your browser's local storage on the web. This app sends none of it anywhere, and no server of ours receives it, because there is no server of ours.
One exception is worth naming plainly. If you use iCloud Backup, iOS includes this app's storage in your device backup, exactly as it does for every other app — we do not opt out of that on your behalf. So a copy of your progress may sit in your backup. That copy is between you and Apple: it is held under Apple's privacy policy and encryption rather than ours, and we can neither see it nor ask for it. If you would rather it were not kept, iOS lets you exclude individual apps in its iCloud backup settings. The web version has no equivalent — browser storage is not backed up this way.
Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on your device. We hold no copy of any of it, because we never had one — though a backup made earlier may still hold one until it is replaced or deleted, which is managed in your iCloud settings. Packs you have bought are not lost either way: they are recorded against your Apple Account, and Restore Purchases in Settings brings them back.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be to say so more clearly.
