Three consonants, in order. Add vowels before, between and after them to make words.

S · T · R gives STAR, STIR, STARE, ASTIR and SATIRE. The consonants never move and never change — everything you add is a vowel.

Is Y a vowel?

Not here. Y counts as a consonant, so SATYR has the skeleton S·T·Y·R.

Do I have to find every word for three stars?

No. Three stars is always set below the full list, so the obscure tail of a level never stands between you and a full score. One star clears a level and unlocks the next.

Some levels let me add a consonant.

From chapter five, yes — one extra consonant, anywhere, including doubling one that is already there. The keyboard greys out once you have placed it.

Are hints limited?

No. Hints are unlimited. They are counted rather than rationed, so you can see what a level cost you without ever being locked out of one.

I missed a day — have I lost my streak?

One missed day is survivable, and one star is all a day needs to count. Your best streak is kept even if the current one lapses.

Will I lose my progress?

Progress is saved on your device as you play. It is not backed up to any server, because the app has no server — so deleting the app does delete it. Level packs you have bought are the exception: those are recorded against your Apple Account, not on the device.

Does it work offline?

Entirely. Playing never needs a connection. Buying or restoring a level pack does, since that goes through the App Store, but packs you already own work offline like everything else.

I bought a level pack and it is not there

Open Settings → Level Packs and tap Restore purchases. That covers a new iPhone, a reinstall, and the case where a purchase was approved after you closed the app. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with — purchases belong to the account, not to the device. If it still does not appear, email me below and say which pack.

Do I have to buy anything?

No. The 120-level campaign and a new daily puzzle are free and always will be, and nothing was taken out of them to sell separately. The packs are 100 extra puzzles each that exist nowhere else in the game.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple rather than by me — I have no way to issue one. Use reportaproblem.apple.com. If something in the app is the reason, please tell me too, so I can fix it.
